The Air Charter Association (ACA) – a leading worldwide trade association for aircraft charter appointed nine winners. Chosen through a combination of member voting and an independent judging panel, their prestigious awards ceremony was hosted on 17 November at the Hilton Metropole, Brighton UK.
The Sir Michael Marshall Award for Sustainability, which is sponsored by Cambridge City Airport, recognises individuals who are raising awareness of sustainability and innovation in aviation.
Nicola-Jane, who was recently appointed as Group Sustainability Manager for Luxaviation, is passionate about sustainability and committed to influencing positive change in the aviation industry.
The scope of Nicola-Jane’s dedication to the cause extends far beyond the air charter niche and is demonstrated through her support and mentoring of young students and aspiring aviators. Having joined the ACA’s NextGen Group in 2021, she is an enthusiastic member of the association’s Sustainability and Innovation Working Group. She recently completed an executive course focussed on business and climate change, with grade Distinction. An alumnus of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and University of Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS); Rising Women Leaders Programme.
Nicola-Jane strives to educate the next generation about the effects of the aviation industry on the environment and communities through insightful and interactive presentations. She encourages accessibility in careers in sustainable aviation for young adults stepping out into the working world.
On receiving the Sir Michael Marshall Award for Sustainability, Nicola-Jane said: “I am humbled to receive this award. What a privilege. I owe my thanks to my employer Luxaviation for continuously supporting my career – providing me with a platform that can further facilitate sustainability endeavours and influence sector-wide change. Lastly, I extend my gratitude to the ACA. For presenting opportunities which have enabled me to recognise my inherent responsibility; to be an ambassador and to lead, alongside so many others who share the same passion. For the world of today and the generations of tomorrow.
This award milestones the beginning of what is an infinite journey. An award which I hope influences and inspires future generations, steering us towards a more sustainable business aviation industry.”
Kevan Craske, Cambridge City Airport’s Operations Director, was honoured to present Nicola-Jane with her prestigious award at the ceremony. “Nicola-Jane is determined to make the world a safer and cleaner environment, now and for future generations,” he said. “She has also undertaken various courses, campaigns, and presentations around sustainability and Women in Aviation, and puts her heart and soul into her work. Congratulations, Nicola-Jane.”
